INVESTORS DON'T OWE YOU TO READ YOUR PITCH DECK

Try Out These Two Tips In Your Startup Today

Tip #1 - INVESTORS DON'T OWE YOU TO READ YOUR PITCH DECK

Last week, I did some pitch deck reviews for free.

One founder was frustrated I didn't read his deck thoroughly.

But here's the thing: if an investor has to read your slides, you've already lost.

👇👇👇

Your pitch deck is a MARKETING MATERIAL.

A customer wouldn't read through a bunch of ugly, dense, verbose text. Why would an investor?

Make them want to read it.

"But it was on slide 6. You just had to read it!"

Not happening.

You must figure out how to improve your design and copy, so the message becomes crystal clear.

I'm sorry, but it's on you. 🫣

Think of fundraising like dating: you may be beautiful inside, but most ppl will stop at the first look.

Make sure your looks don't get in the way of your message.

Conclusion:

Maybe I'm tired. Maybe I'm drunk. Maybe I'm reading your deck on my smartphone in the subway.

So are VCs.

As a founder, you should build a deck so good that even lazy Steph will understand it.

A few caveats:
> This only applies to the 1st contact. Once you're in talks, looks matter less.
> If you have a crazy track record or a super strong intro, looks matter less.
> If you suck at design, you can do a memo. But you better be damn good at copywriting.
